Hello, my name Ryan Argon. I'm fifteen and since before I can remember, I've been able to see creatures that no one else can. I thought I was crazy, but after meeting a girl with orange tabby cat ears and tail, I'm thinking otherwise. Maybe there's a world out there that's made of our fairy tales. Hmm, guess I'll have to just wait and see.
Ryan walked home, both hands in his pockets. He had finished his tea awhile ago and was now approaching a small, one story house that looked like it had just been plucked from the flat country side. Ryan opened the door and smiled as a small, furry creature flitted and flew in front of his face.
Hello, Neon. I'm home, The boy smiled again before petting the brightly colored serpentine like critter. The dragon was covered in bright green fur while the fur running along it's spine was a bright lavender. It's head adorn long ears. The crown of it's head had a large tuff of head fur springing forward and falling in it's face. The dragon had small cat-like paws that didn't even hold or conceal sharp claws.
Merrr~! Neon let out a soft, high pitched purring-like call in response to Ryan's words. The dragon flitted through the air before landing on Ryan's shoulder and looking about the room. Ryan proceeded to walk to the back of the house, opening the back door and letting the warm summer weather enter the room. He smiled brightly before blinking at the sound of high pitched barking.
Hey, Sparky! He laughed softly before letting the brown and white dog out from behind a plastic fence and watching him rush out and start barking at a bird outside.
Neon suddenly flew up into the air and quickly flitted himself towards the front door and let out a joyful merr. Ryan turned his head to see Care standing in the front doorway, holding Neon and giggling.
Wow, Ryan! I didn't know you owned a pygmy wind dragon! He's so cute. She giggled and nuzzled her nose with Neon's before looking back to Ryan, her ears relaxed and forward while her tail shifted gently and slightly behind her, the tip twitching in that contempt manner.
Ryan stood still. She had followed him?! He sighed and shook his head. So you followed me home? I thought those were cat ears, not puppy ears... His voice was slightly annoyed, but it simply made Care's knowing smirk widen.
Now, now. Is that anyway to talk to a princess? She smiled royally and bowed again. Neon nodded softly before letting out a you-should-know-better call towards Ryan and gently thwacking his tail on the top of Ryan's curly haired head.
A... Princess? Disbelief flooded his voice as he spoke. When Ryan's inquiry was answered with a knowing and clever nod, he shook his head. No way... you're not a princess! There's no way. Ryan shook his head hard now while those brown-ringed green eyes fluttered about. Care simply laughed and nodded again and again.
I am! Believe it or not, it doesn't change the truth. She laughed again before placing her hands on her waist and leaning forward slightly. I am Care Aatou; princess! She nodded strongly before smirking again.
Ryan simply stared at the tabby cat girl standing just in front of his front door. Fine. If you're a princess, what land do you rule over? Ryan crossed his arms knowing that he had just stumped the girl. Or so he thought.
Care let out a soft laugh, her knowing smirk growing. The land where Neon, here, and all the rest the magical creatures you apparently can see came from! She laughed again, satisfied with this one-sided argument.
Ryan blinked and looked to the brightly colored dragon, who nodded in agreement to Care's words. The boy let his arms drop to his sides before smiling wildly. Really?! He laughed strongly and looked to the cat girl again. Please! You've got to show me... Though excitement and joy ran through his words, Care noted that his voice was still fairly quiet. The girl blinked before standing up straight.
Hmm... I don't see any harm in it. And I can ask my mother why you can see the world's creatures. Care smiled sweetly before clapping her hands together once. Ryan stood in place for a moment before nearly jumping up and leaping beside the girl, enveloping her in a tight hug. Care laughed softly before gently tapping the tall boy's nose. I'm lovin' the affection, Ryan, but I'm afraid it might be hazardous to my health. She let out another soft laugh as Ryan released her.
Ah... Sorry... His voice returned to it's nearly inaudible timidness as it was before in the cafe. Care shook her head before looking down a hall and seeing a hue of blue light, a sign of a blue painted room with a window. She smiled and grabbed Ryan's hand again.
Wanna see that land now? After she had pulled the tall Ryan into his own room, she sat herself upon his bed. Ryan blinked but nodded, slowly.
Uh... Sure... But... How..? He lifted a brow when Care smiled sweetly and then closed her bright blue orbs and began singing in another language.
The room suddenly began to spin, though Care and Ryan both stayed in their place. As the room and it's contents spun as if in a blender, blue changed to green and a splatter of reds, yellows and even purples. The room, though now Ryan had an idea that it was no longer his bedroom, started to slow it's spinning as Care started to slow and end her song. Once the blender motion finally halted it's somewhat nauseating movement, Ryan stared blindly before him as the sounds of songbirds and some creature's roar echoed in his ears. Care smiled, having ended her song, and opened her eyes.
Well, this is it! The world beyond our own! Care was now standing with her arms over her head, showing off the wide open grasslands behind and before her.
Whoa... Ryan stared at the dragon-like creatures that flew through the sky and the Pegasuses that grazes on the meadow just behind Care. His smile grew slowly as a group of poppy bloom dressed pixies flitted and fluttered right before his eyes. They giggled and waved at the boy before flying down and plucking a bright purple flower from it's stalk and handing it to him. He smiled wider and nodded slightly, accepting the flower. It looked to be a mix between a violet and an orchid, though the bloom's sheer size reminded him of a rose. It held exactly five petals as well.
Care laughed and crossed her arms, leaning to her side slightly. Well, well. The fairies definitely like you already. She giggled before placing her hands over Ryan's, holding the flower with him. This flower is very special. It only wilts when exposed to feelings of sadness or depression of any kind. But... She looked up into Ryan's eyes and spoke softly. You can easily save it by surrounding it with emotions of love, peace, and happiness. She smiled softly, sweetly before looking back to the flower, placing a soft kiss on one of it's petals. It never dies unless surrounded by those negative feelings for more than a full day. I must say, that's why it's my favorite flower here. She spoke softly before releasing Ryan's hands and twirling around, clasping her hands behind her back once again.
Ah... Where are you going? Ryan's voice picked up a little volume as his feelings of excitement and joy overwhelmed his mind. When Care simply stuck out her tongue and winked in response, Ryan couldn't help but smile and laugh, following the princess as she danced through the meadow towards the Pegasus herd.
Once she had made it to a few feet away, she giggle again before running towards a pure white winged horse that had the largest set of wings. When the stallion spotted Care, he gave out a joyful whinny and took a few cantering steps forward before his muzzle was wrapped in a warm hug from the girl. Care giggled again, nuzzling into the stallion's head gently. Finally, she released the horse, placing her hand on the back of his neck, tangling her fingers into his white mane slightly.
This is Ryan. He's my new friend. Care spoke to the horse like another person while Ryan stood there, wondering why this girl's laughter and smile made him feel like he belonged anywhere so long as she was there. Care saw Ryan's soft smile and smiled the same way before standing on her toes and whispering into the mustang's ear. The horse blinked and gave out a laughing whinny to her words before craning his neck and giving her hair and ears a gently nip. Care blushed slightly and gently pushed the horse's head away, only to get a lick in return. She wiped the spittle from her face while the horse simply held his head high, looking quite proud of what he had done.
Ryan laughed himself this time before speaking his curiosity. So... you can understand him? He smiled strongly when she nodded.
I can understand them all! They're all my friends and family! At the last statement, she giggled and wrapped her arms around the thick neck of the horse and nuzzling into him.
Ryan laughed shortly. He was slightly confused as to why he wished that was him in her arms, but he shrugged the feeling off casually, nearly sitting down before a small pack of Neons seemed to fly straight toward him. Ryan let out a sharp yelp of surprise as the dragons swarmed around his head overwhelming his ears with happy merrs and plastering his face with a thousand tiny licks. Ryan laughed, for the wet signs of affection tickled him. Care joined him in his laughter as she waved to the horse and walked over to stand in front of the boy.
Got a problem there, Ryan?
Gah! Call them off! Ryan's words of surrender were placed between short fits of laughter as he tried to gently push away the dragons. Care merely laughed harder before nodding.
All right. Hey guys! That's enough, okay? He needs his air. As the dragons all laughed with the princess and floated back, Ryan let out an over exaggerated Pwah!. Care shook her head and sat down next to her gently laughing friend. They were showing their thanks. She looked to the pack as they flitted about, playing with one another. That's Neon's family and friends. They thought that he had disappeared forever and could have even been dead, but when he found you, he also discovered he could return here every very long once in awhile and so he came here and told his pack, She smiled sweetly. They must have been dying to see and thank the one that saved him from who knows what. She looked back to see Ryan staring at her almost lovingly. Care blinked before blushing and looking away, only to flit her eyes back.
Well... You can tell them that I have you to thank for that. He laughed softly before falling back and closing his eyes. Mmm... This place is very relaxing. You have to bring me back here again. Care smiled and nodded her head.
Mm! She brought her knees close and wrapped her arms around them while looking up at the sky. Though Ryan could not see it, her face held a loving and soft smile.
Ryan looked at the back of Care, barely even noticing her tail tip flicking contently back and forth. No, his eyes were transfixed on the back of her head. He let out a soft gulp while a blush covered his face. Ah... I can't take it anymore... He began to sit up while Care flicked her ears back and then turned her head.
Eh? Can't take what---! Her words were cut off as Ryan's lips enclosed around her own. Her eyes widened before closing and she leaned into the kiss. Moments passed and finally Ryan reluctantly pulled away. Care followed his lips before stopping and staring into his eyes which were looking away slightly.
Sorry... I shouldn't have done that... he blushed strongly before looking back at Care.
Why not? I didn't find any harm in it. Care smiled softly before nuzzling her nose to his and then kissing the boy back. Her arms wrapped around his neck, while Ryan's pulled themselves around her waist, holding her close.
Neon's friends and family giggled softly with the fairies beside them. The Pegasus that Care had been talking with earlier snorted softly before ushering the small creatures away and giving the two some privacy.
Long moments passed and it seemed like Ryan was awakening from a dream only to be placed in another over and over again. Soon, though, that dream ended as Care gently pulled away, resting her forehead to his. Huh... Umm... Ryan smiled softly, a blush reaching and stretching itself across his face. He shifted his eyes to the side, noticing how late it had gotten. Oh my God! C-care! I gotta go! My mom's gonna freak! Ryan jumped straight up, but Care just sat there and laughed. Ryan looked to her, What's so funny about this? His voice showed how tried his nerves were at the point in time and how desperate he was to get home.
Care simply shook her head, smiled, closed her eyes, and began to sing again. Once the area had stopped spinning, they were both back in Ryan's room. Ryan stared out the window before looking to his clock. No amount of time had passed since the two of them had left for the other world. Neon let out a soft merr and muzzled Ryan's cheek before flying to Care and doing the same.
See? Since we were in a different world, it doesn't affect this world's time. She laughed softly before standing up and gently lifting Ryan's chin before placing a kiss on his cheek. Well, I had best be off. Packing and school shopping and such. Care laughed softly before bowing again and walking out the door, leaving Ryan to fall back onto his bed with a strong smile on his face.
Yes!!! His voice echoed throughout the house and even made Care, who had just stepped out of the front door, jump slightly before laughing.
You've chosen good, girl... She laughed again before jogging off to her own house.
